The hard cover limited edition “Guide book” is published to commemorate the success of the guide. The soft cover copy and the hard cover Limited Edition are available for sale at Branch secretariat. The 2nd Edition of the Guide Book is published by the Branch in association with the Fire & Rescue Department Malaysia (FRDM), Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM), the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and Association of Consulting Engineers (ACEM).
The latest edition of this popular Guide book is an invaluable source of reference to the Uniform Building By-law 1984 for those who are in the fire safety engineering and fire protection industries as well as building industries. Efforts by various authors has rewritten three of the chapters while upgrading of some of the chapters were achieved through comments and inputs from fire officers, fire engineering professionals and practioners.
The Smoke Control System using Natural (Displacement) or Power (Extracted) Ventilation chapter has been revamped with elaboration on design calculations. A new chapter on Portable Fire extinguishers was re-drafted covering the latest Fire Classification and Performance-Based design in accordance to the new Malaysian Standard 1539 which is being implemented and enforced by Fire and Rescue Department at the moment. For passive fire protection chapter, the existing 2-dimensional diagrams were replaced by 3-dimensional illustrations so that readers will have a clearer perspective and better understanding of the Uniform Building By-law.
